IMPROVING STUDENTS’ PRONUNCIATION THROUGH TIKTOK APPLICATION OF TENTH GRADE SMK NEGERI 1 ONAN GANJANG IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2021/2022

This study aims to improve student’s ability on pronunciation especially in word stress by using TikTok Application videos. Word stress is defined as the degree of force or loudness with which a syllable is pronounced to give it prominence. This study was conducted by using Classroom Action Research (CAR) with population of this study was the tenth grade of SMK Negeri 1 Onan Ganjang, the total of populations was 75 students. The sample of this study about 30 students by using Purposive Sampling based on Sugiyono, 2017. The researcher was applied in two cycles with six meetings. The data was collected by using quantitative and qualitative approaches. The result of this study showed that significant improvement of the student’s score. The students’ mean score from pre-test was 38 to Post-test cycle I was 61,3 and to Post-test cycle II was 81. The improvement percentage from Pre-test to Post-test cycle I is about 61% and improvement percentage from Post-test cycle I to post-test cycle II was 32%. And the result of improvement that students got score 70 above. In pre-test is there is no student got score 70 above. The competence in post-test cycle I was 23% (7 students) and in the cycle II there is 93% (28 students) who got score 70 above. Regarding the improvement the result on this research the student should be more proactive using social media especially Tik Tok, for their learning needs and develop their pronunciation ability.
